This is another breath of fresh air from the author. I want pure unadulterated joy when I read. I want to know the author had fun with the characters, a catharsis of sorts, and you can feel that in every word as you read. I was emotionally invested in Ian and Brad. I can feel that the author was too. I’ll say it again. Loved them. Lying Bastard is a passionate roller coaster and it’s so wrong it’s right. Oh, and let’s not forget it’s smoking hot. Crank up Chase Holfelder’s version of Animal and settle in for some Lying Bastard.
Wow. I bought the author's other Bastards story (Cheating Bastards) a couple of months ago on somebody's recommendation and promptly forgot about it until this week. On the basis of that book's strength, I raced to download this one, and it's even better. As a big fan of dark storytelling from the likes of Thomas Carver, a prolific master in the genre, this one meets the high standard of quality writing, clever characterizations and hot rough sex that I look for. Can't wait for more of this series from McCormack.
This was absolutely amazing, I loved it! There was so much drama, it's unbelievable, secrets , misery, love and death. Definitely a must read, this Author will keep you on the edge of your seats. So many thanks, Honey Bee ðŸðŸ“šðŸ’™ðŸŽ¶
A tough read. But also very enjoyable. You want to hit a few people in this story.
Every book I read by Devon McCormack gets better and better. I devoured this novella. So twisted and dark, and I seriously did not see that coming. My favorite bit, that didn't make me cackle loudly, was the description of Finns fanny pack. I bet he rocked that look. So much was going on it felt like I was watching this super fast paced movie and I think my eyeballs may have whiplash from flying over the pages so fast! I can't wait to describe in detail to all my loving friends and family about this one!
I must admit I'm not usually a fan of hardcore and pain as release books. But since I've had the pleasure of getting to know Devon, the author, I decided to give it a try. I was honestly sucked in from the first page. I found myself routing for Brad and Ian and trying to see their relationship through their eyes. Devon has a way of pulling the reader in to the story so that you don't feel like you are reading fiction but living right along side of the characters. Well written although as a diehard romantic I would have enjoyed the characters finding love and expressing it. Hopefully Devon will bring Brad and Ian back for round 2 and a more in-depth look at their journey.
I think Ian will stay with me long after the ending of this book. I can’t rate a book badly just because I didn’t like what happened in the story - that’s not fair to the reader nor the author. The storyline was tight, the characters flawed but real - I just don’t enjoy this level of darkness. But boy oh boy, was this a heart pounder!!
...but it is every bit as dark a story as indicated. Still...if you like your passion rough, violent and your heroes tortured (in more ways than one), you don't want to miss out on this short and deadly piece of hotness.
